Its predecessor was "Baishui River". On sunny days, the color of water is blue. Under the sunlight, it is like the moon embedded in the valley, hence the name' Blue Moon Valley'.

This river is formed by the melting of glacier water in Yulong Snow Mountain. Because the water quality is not polluted, its riverbed and platform are all white marble and limestone gravel, which constitutes this extremely clear mountain stream. When it rains, the whole river presents a white luster, hence the name "Baishui River".

The rivers in Blue Moon Valley are blocked by mountains in the process of flowing, forming four large water surfaces, which are called Yuye Lake, Jingtan Lake, Blue Moon Lake and Tingtao Lake.
