Nasal collapse caused by cleft lip and palate can be repaired at the right time, and some patients can achieve ideal therapeutic effect.
Cleft lip and palate are often accompanied by nasal deformities such as flat nostrils, collapse or curved tip of nose, which need to be corrected. Modern view advocates one-stage rhinoplasty, but it should still be the overall concept of orderly treatment, which needs to be considered according to the specific conditions of each age stage.
(1) received preoperative orthopedic treatment immediately after birth. Palatal rest corrected mandible and alveolar process, and also corrected nasal columella and alar, which created conditions for operation.
(2) At the same time of cleft lip and palate repair, one-stage rhinoplasty was performed. Including lengthening nasal columella, lifting and correcting ectopic alar cartilage, rebuilding nasal dike and eliminating nasal vestibule wrinkles.
(3) rhinoplasty stent was used for 6 ~ 12 months after operation.
(4) Some lip and nose deformities can undergo secondary plastic surgery before entering school.
(5) At the age of 9 ~11,alveolar cleft bone grafting was performed with the cooperation of orthodontists to correct the nasal root collapse deformity caused by maxillary bone defect and restore the normal basal plane of external nasal bone and cartilage scaffold.
(6) If necessary, open rhinoplasty should be performed at the age of 13 ~ 16.
However, for some patients with serious nasal deformities, it may be necessary to perform multiple surgical repairs to better and effectively handle the overall state.
