When you just finished shooting and start looking at these photos with models on the camera display for the first time, this process is full of expectations for both sides, and those well-taken photos will soon catch your eye.
There are also photos that are considered to be "off target", but they will not be made public. With the beginning of the first appraisal evaluation, you have actually started to process the photos.
Next, you can modify the photos.
Depending on the situation-whether the photo is a file in RAW format or JPEG format, the starting point of your image processing pipeline is different. Because, for files in RAW format, you have to start from scratch.
JPEG files have been preprocessed in the camera.
Tip:
Computer display screen will have a decisive impact on the quality of image processing. The choice of thin film transistor, kinescope or laptop screen is of course related to personal economic situation, taste and requirements for photo quality.
In order to achieve the ideal color, brightness and contrast, you can adjust the display device accordingly-there are many kinds of hardware and software on the market for you to choose from.
RAW format and JPEG format
If shooting is done in the original file format (RAW format), the camera only keeps the color and brightness values of each individual image point (pixel). The camera will not adjust the color and sharpness.
It won't eliminate noise. But if the camera directly converts the original data into JPEG format, it means that the camera has done these things, and you won't have much need to modify the photos afterwards.
In addition, JPEG files are compressed, so they are much smaller than RAW files. But compression-which varies according to different settings-will have a negative impact on image quality.
There are countless setting options in Photoshop's RAW format converter (Camera Raw). For example, the contrast of this photo is adjusted with the curve tool.
RAW files have many advantages, for example, white balance is not considered when shooting, and small exposure errors can be made up afterwards. But files in the original format will take up more storage space.
And in any case, you should post-process the photos in this format.
However, due to compatibility reasons, such as sharing with friends, uploading to the internet or taking it to a photo agency for related production, in the final stage of image processing, photos can only be saved as compressed files.
Such as JPEG files, there is no choice.
According to the image processing software and camera mode, open the selected RAW format file in the corresponding RAW format converter. There are already many setting options here: color temperature, white balance, contrast and sharpness.
And many other parameters can be modified under various menus. What you need to know is that the settings made here are automatically saved by the program and filed with the file in RAW format.
Go to the corresponding folder. Next, when you open the photo with image processing software, these settings cannot be eliminated!
So you can only modify the white balance in the RAW format converter, and then make other reversible adjustments in the image processing software.
Through the RAW format, you can also make a fuss about the imaging after shooting, such as using the white balance setting to achieve a certain effect.
Tip:
In many camera personality settings, file format and photo storage can be set to RAW format +JPEG format. However, you must consider that this will take up more storage space.
And whether the writing speed of your memory card can keep up, especially when you want to make 8 continuous shooting per second.
decorate
Retouching refers to beautifying or modifying photos afterwards, because the reality is always a little imperfect, and it is human nature to pursue perfection-who doesn't want to be more beautiful, even in photos?
The so-called beauty retouching is not an independent retouching method, but a series of special operations on photos (which require a lot of retouching skills).
For example, you can create a face without wrinkles, or you can delete people or things that you don't want to appear in the photo. In this case, the boundary between "truth" and "falsehood" is becoming more and more blurred.
Moreover, this method can bring benefits to others and can also be used to bring disadvantages to others.
Below you will see an example of retouching a photo.
Unprocessed photos:
The following steps need to be completed:
Eliminate wrinkles on the skin
Remove dark circles
Locally sharpen the eyes
Improve skin
Archive and prepare for web publishing.
Late sharpening
Now you see a very important detail: sharpening a photo is always the last step of image processing, because it has to adapt to your planned output size (mainly used in the network here).
First, open this photo in the image processing software. Here, we think that the white balance has reached our expected requirements-either because the photos are well taken or because they are already in RAW format.
The white balance in the converter has been modified.
Tip:
Copy an original image on top of the background layer. Several image processing steps will directly change the image file, and the processed photos cannot be restored. If there is a replication layer, if you accidentally "miss",
It can also be modified to better control the processing of a single part of the photo.
Step 1- Eliminate skin wrinkles
The repair brush tool is used to remove impurities and fine lines from the skin on the background photo copy.
Start by modifying the "small flaws" on the skin, such as the wrinkles that people care most about, but don't make big changes to them. Middle-aged women certainly want to look younger,
But if all her wrinkles and fine lines are smoothed out, it will become completely unreal and even ruin a face's personality.
Step 1 Modified effect:
Step 2-Remove dark circles.
Using the white brush tool and low opacity, you can remove the blurred dark circles.
Tired dark circles can be concealed by careful and simple makeup, but sometimes they need to be repaired with a digital "pen". At the same time, you can be like a makeup artist.
Use a puff to smear the darker parts of the photo until you reach the desired brightness. If you do it on another open layer as we suggest, then you can pass it later.
Control the opacity of the layer, so as to accurately adjust the intensity of the highlighted part.
You can also brighten some eyes that are too dark by the method just mentioned. You just have to be very careful, because if you look too white, it will look unnatural. Teeth have similar problems,
If the decoration is too white, the teeth will look terrible under the "toothpaste-like grin"
Tip:
When using imitation stamp or repair tool in Photoshop, the corresponding image area must be determined. In other words, you have to determine where the copied part of the photo comes from.
If you want to remove or weaken a deep wrinkle on the model's face now, just change the source area, because then you create a little irregularity in the texture. This is more in line with the laws of nature than too regular texture.
Step 3- Local Sharpening of Eyes
Before sharpening with Filter-Sharpen -USM Sharpen, select a finer area around the eyes (for example, use the Polygon Lasso Tool), and then limit the sharpening to the area you choose.
Depending on the way you take a picture (small sharp range or global sharp imaging), the picture will not be clear enough at every point. But for a successful portrait,
Eyes are very important, so first of all, make sure your eyes are sharp. Moderate post-sharpening of the selected parts is very beneficial to show the wonderful effect of the model's gaze.
Step 4-Improve the skin
