Hollywood Road is the earliest street built since the opening of Hong Kong. Its name is not from Hollywood, the cinema in Los Angeles, but from Hollywood, and Chinese is translated into Hollywood Road.
This ancient street on Hong Kong Island twists and turns, extending from Central to Sheung Wan and West Ring. There are more than 0/00 antique shops of all sizes/kloc, and there are many excellent China antiques, including ceramics, jade, stone carvings, tooth carvings, bronzes, silverware, lacquerware, furniture, screens, calligraphy and painting, ancient books, and even rare China ancient wedding costumes. In addition, there are ancient electric fans and phonographs from the west ... as well as jewelry, silverware and antiques from Japan, Thailand and South Asia. Among them, ceramics, sculpture and furniture are the most. No wonder it has become a must-see place for antique collectors and lovers all over the world to search for their favorite antiques.
Broadly speaking, antiques can be divided into three categories: genuine antiques, replicas and antiques. As long as you are observant and careful here, you may be able to buy real antiques at a small price in some small shops. Hong Kong is a high-incidence area of fake antiques, and there are many fakes hidden in it: fake Ming and Qing calligraphy and paintings, nearly authentic Han and Tang ceramics, dyed ancient Yu Pei of the Warring States, fake bronzes ... Remember to open your eyes when you unpack.
Go down the stairs in front of Wu Wen Temple and reach Morrow Street. Formerly known as LascarRow, it was called "Moro Street" because there was an Indian orderly dormitory in its early years, which was divided into two sections. Moro Street is also a famous antique street, about 200 meters long, and there are more than 30 antique shops on the narrow street. Antiques sold here include jade, pottery, bronze Buddha, bronze tripod, epigraphy and calligraphy, and gold lacquer wood products ... Some odds and ends, such as old watches, old pens, old telephones, Mickey Mouse, Barbie dolls and other western gadgets, are mixed on the shelves.
Gule Road between Hollywood Road and Queen's Road is also an antique street, which was opened in 1970s. Now there are more than 60 antique shops, mainly selling China's ancient cultural relics, including the blue glaze of the Han Dynasty, ceramics and stone carvings of the Song Dynasty, and their products are also mixed.
Wuwen Temple, located in the prime location of hollywood road, is a relatively complete historical building in Hong Kong. Built in 1847, it is dedicated to Wenchang (for fame and fortune) and Guan Sheng (for faith and wealth), and enjoys many years of flourishing incense. It is adjacent to Liesheng Palace and Guan Gong (Shande Palace), with blue tiles and white walls and flower ridge stone pillars. Three ancient buildings with similar styles are lined up in a narrow valley with high-rise buildings, which has become a must-see for tourists here.
