Because the change of thyroid function seems to affect the degree of eye lesions, the treatment of hyperthyroidism should also avoid hypothyroidism. Although thyroid function has returned to normal, eye diseases of a few patients will continue to deteriorate, even causing optic nerve swelling and blindness.
