Lugou Bridge was built in 1 189 and completed in 1 192. There are 28 1 sentry and 50 1 stone lion on the oldest stone bridge in Beijing. But the stone lions of Lugou Bridge were not completed at one time. The carving of the stone lions in Lugouqiao spans six eras: Jin Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty, Qing Dynasty, Republic of China and New China. The youngest lion is only 20 years old.
Lugou Bridge has been built for more than 800 years and has experienced disasters. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, floods washed away part of the bridge deck, and 1732 was rebuilt. 1937 "July 7th Incident" broke out and became the battlefield of anti-Japanese war. 1967, in order to solve the problem of poor traffic, the bridge deck was widened, the 9 1 sentry post was replaced, and the lion on the stigma was re-carved.
1985, Lugou Bridge officially retired. 1986 demolish the widened trail and restore the historical features. 199 1, Lugou Bridge is closed.

The stone lions of Lugou Bridge have different postures. Lions are divided into males and females. The female plays with the little lion and the male plays with the hydrangea. Some big lions are carved with many little lions, the smallest of which is only a few centimeters long, and some only show half of their heads and one mouth. Therefore, there has long been a saying that there are countless lions in Lugouqiao.
