The custom of Dragon Boat Festival in Qu Yuan's hometown has been listed in the national intangible cultural heritage protection list. The folk custom of Zigui Dragon Boat Festival was formed in the pre-Qin Dynasty, developed in the late Han, Wei and Jin Dynasties, flourished in the Tang Dynasty, and has been maintained to this day. It contains rich etiquette and cultural elements. Mainly: to pay homage to Qu Yuan. On the fifth day of May, people gathered at Quyuan Temple or on the shore to set up an altar to worship Quyuan. Swimming in the river evokes the soul. On the fifth day of May or the fifteenth day of May, the dragon boat swam in the river and sang "Swimming in the River" to call back Qu Zi's soul. Dragon boat race, in which different dragon boats race forward with spectacular scenes, has become a cultural and sports activity integrating nationality, competitiveness and entertainment. Since the Ming Dynasty, the Sao Tan Poetry Club, the birthplace of Qu Yuan in Lepingli, Zigui, was spontaneously organized by farmers who had studied in private schools. During the Dragon Boat Festival, they all gather in Quyuan Temple to recite Chu Ci or poetry to each other, celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival and commemorate Quyuan. The customs of the Dragon Boat Festival include eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, hanging wormwood leaves and calamus, tying sachets (bags), sprinkling salted eggs and entertaining in rice fields.
