Coal geological exploration in Hancheng mining area began at 1958. The main exploration task is undertaken by Shaanxi Coalfield Geology Bureau 13 1 Team, and the team headquarters is located in Xuequ Village of this city, with a total of 662 employees. Eight drilling rigs have been started one after another, with completely independent mechanical repair and transportation systems. By 1986, more than 400 square kilometers of surface geological surveys of various scales have been completed. There are 457 boreholes for coalfield geological exploration, with a footage of 207,982 meters; There are 69 hydrogeological holes with footage of 30,494 meters. There are 526 boreholes in total, with a length of 238,476 meters. Various geological reports submitted and approved include: detailed investigation report in the south of Hancheng mining area, general survey report in the north of Hancheng mining area, Shijiagou, Shangyukou, Xiayukou, Hu Ling, Sangshuping 1, Sangshuping No.2, Liaoyuan and Liaoyuan. All the above mining areas, except Xigao District, are concentrated in the shallow part of the mining area. Due to the changeable overall design of the mining area, except Liaoyuan, Xiayukou and Sangshuping mine field boundary, other mine field boundary and areas will change greatly. Therefore, in the future development, supplementary exploration work is still needed.
