Xinyang Teachers College, referred to as Xinyang Teachers College for short, is located in Xinyang City, Henan Province, the capital of mountains and rivers and the tea town. It is the first undergraduate college established in Henan Province after China's reform and opening up, and one of the two key undergraduate normal colleges in Henan Province.
Xinyang Teachers College was founded in 1975, formerly known as Kaifeng Teachers College Xinyang Branch (now Henan University). On 1978, it was approved by the State Council and changed to its current name. Mr Fei Xiaotong, former vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), a famous social activist and educator, praised him as "the cradle of teachers". In 2007, the school was rated as an excellent school by the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education.
