Function of degaussing resistor: When the degaussing coil is energized with a strong alternating current, a strong alternating magnetic field is generated to act around the picture tube. After the instantaneous current becomes smaller, the alternating magnetic field quickly decays to a very weak level. This change of alternating magnetic field can eliminate the remanence of the picture tube, so that there are no interference spots on the screen, thus ensuring the pure color of the image displayed on TV.
