1. Cutting scion:
The scion is cut into a wedge shape with two symmetrical facets and is 3 ~ 5 cm long. The outside of the scion should be slightly thicker than the inside. If the rhizome is too thick and the clamping force is too great, the inner and outer thickness can be the same or the inner side can be slightly thicker to prevent the joint surface from being pinched. The cutting surface of scion should be straight and smooth, and the rough cutting surface is not easy to be closely combined. When cutting the scion, hold the scion firmly with your left hand and cut the scion obliquely with your right hand.
2. Cutting the rootstock:
Cut or saw off the roots at the grafting site. The position of the kerf is very important, so the surface of the stump should be smooth and the texture should be straight, and there should be no scars within at least 6cm from top to bottom, otherwise the split seam will not be straight and the xylem will split to one side. After the grafting site is selected and cut, split 1 knife in the center of the rootstock with a cleaver to make the splitting depth 3 ~ 4 cm.
3. Cutting the scion:
Use the wedge of the cutting knife to pry open the crack of the rootstock, gently insert the scion into the rootstock so that the thick side of the scion faces outward and the thin side faces inward, and then gently remove the cutting knife. Pay special attention to the alignment of rootstock cambium and scion cambium when inserting. Generally, the cortex of rootstock is thicker than that of scion, so the outer surface of scion is slightly inward than that of rootstock, so that the cambium can be aligned with each other.
One week before the pear tree germinates in spring (late March), the survival rate of single-bud cut-off grafting pear tree is high, and the survival rate of grafting with xylem is also high in September.
Pear trees like temperature, which requires higher temperature for growth and lower temperature for dormancy. The suitable annual average temperature of pear trees is 4- 12℃ for Qiuzi pear, 7- 15℃ for Pak Lei and Xiyang pear, and 13-2 1℃ for Shali pear.
Grafted trees must belong to the same genus, and vascular bundle, xylem and phloem cells can fully combine and develop. You can choose apple trees. Autumn pears can be grafted in the north (cold and drought resistance); Pears and the like can be grafted in the south.
