Luo Guanzhong's respect for Liu Yi and Cao Yi was influenced by Chen Shou, the author of "Three Kingdoms", and Pei Songzhi's annotations of "Three Kingdoms". Both of them were because Luo Guanzhong was influenced by orthodox thoughts. After all, the Han Dynasty at that time was the Liu family. In the world, Liu Bei was respected as Liu Huangshu, and he was regarded as orthodox, while Cao Cao became a rebel.
Chen Shou, the author of "Three Kingdoms", was originally from the Shu Kingdom and served as an official in the Shu Han regime, so he had feelings for the Shu Han, and of course he knew the Shu Han better than the other two countries. There are many, so although his "Three Kingdoms" is a history book, in terms of personal feelings, it is more or less biased towards the Shu Han, and the biggest enemy of Liu Bei, the lord of Shu Han, is Cao Cao in his life, so "Three Kingdoms" is inevitably not There is a phenomenon of respecting Liu and restraining Cao.
Later Pei Songzhi made annotations on "Three Kingdoms", and the phenomenon of respecting Liu and restraining Cao further deepened. When he made annotations, he quoted a large number of "The Biography of Cao Man" written by Wu people, as well as Sun Sheng "Miscellaneous Notes" and other novels and unofficial histories, without exception, portray Cao Cao as a treacherous and cruel image. Therefore, when Luo Guanzhong wrote "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", he must have read these annotations, and it was inevitable that he would not be affected.
Furthermore, ancient people were influenced by Confucianism and had a particularly strong sense of loyalty to the emperor. From the perspective of Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty, Cao Cao was a great treacherous minister by holding the emperor to command the princes. And after Liu Bei, as the king of Zhongshan, was the emperor of the Han Dynasty. Emperor Xian's family, so of course Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty was close to Liu Yuancao, which also affected the world's view of Liu and Cao.
So from the Tang Dynasty to the Yuan and Ming dynasties, whenever people encountered conflicts between Cao and Liu, as long as they heard about Liu Bei's victory, they would all smile. When they heard about Cao Cao's defeat of Liu Bei, they would not hide their faces and cry. That is to say, he is dejected. As a minister, Luo Guanzhong was certainly deeply affected by this thought, which of course also affected his creations.
