Ningbo seems to be developing well in all aspects now, but there is an important reason why it has not become the political center of Zhejiang since ancient times, and that is its geographical position in a corner. Ningbo is located in the east of Zhejiang, the easternmost part of the eastern mainland of China, with the sea in the north and east, and the external contact is only in the west and south. In contrast, Hangzhou is in the center of Zhejiang. Before the Ming Dynasty, there were fourteen states in Zhejiang * * *: Yueming, Yuehang, YueRunchang, YueSuzhou Yuexiu Lake, Wen Tai and Wu Qu. With fourteen states in Hangzhou, Zhejiang as the center, official and commercial roads can all gather here. In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang cut Runzhou (Zhenjiang), Changzhou and Suzhou out of Zhejiang, resulting in the general pattern of Zhejiang Province today. But Hangzhou has established its position as the political center of Zhejiang Province. Even if it was once overtaken by Ningbo's economic development after the founding of the People's Republic of China, it would be difficult to shake the central position of Hangzhou.
