197 1 year later, it once belonged to Jianyang area and Nanping area. 1995, Nanping city was established in Nanping area, and the original Nanping city was changed to Yanping district.
In the first year of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 196), Beixiang of Houguan County was located in Nanping County, and it was rebuilt in Yanping County of An Jun County in the fourth year of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 379). During the first year of Liu Songtai in the Southern Dynasties (AD 465-47 1), it was renamed Nanping County.
In the third year of Tang Wude (AD 620), the Yanping Army was rebuilt, and in the first year of Shangyuan (AD 674), the state was rebuilt. In the Five Dynasties, the country belonged to Fujian and was changed to Yanping Town, Yongping Town, Jinlong County and Ganzhou.
In the third year of Tiande (AD 945), it was changed to Yanping Army and Jianpu County was established in Jianzhou. Song Taiping rejuvenating the country for four years (AD 979), belonging to Nanjian House, in the first year of Jingyan (AD 1276), where the right-hand Prime Minister Wen Tianxiang set up the viceroy.
In the 15th year of Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1278), it belonged to Nanjian Road, and in the 6th year of Dade (A.D. 1302), it was renamed Nanping County, Yanping Prefecture. The Ming and Qing Dynasties belonged to Yanping Prefecture, and the early years of the Republic of China belonged to Jian 'an Road.

Yanping District of Nanping City is located at the intersection of Jianxi and Shaxi, two tributaries in the upper reaches of Minjiang River. The surrounding mountains are undulating, and the city is built by mountains and rivers. The terrain is dangerous and it is an important land and water terminal.
In the early years, Fujian's traffic was inconvenient, and Fuzhou had to go back to Yanping House via Minjiang River, and Yanping House was also the most important gateway of Fuzhou. From Jiangxi to Fujian, if Yanping House is trapped, it can reach Fuzhou along the river, and it must not be guarded. Therefore, there is an old saying, "Iron hits Yanping House, paper pastes Fuzhou City".
After the establishment of Shuikou Hydropower Station, Yanping District became a reservoir area, and the water level of Sanjiang River rose, which actually became an artificial lake called Yanping Lake.
The city is mountainous. In the early years, there was only one main street along the river, which is today's binjiang road (formerly known as Zhongshan Road). So Nanping is called "Nanping Street" in Fuzhou dialect. After that, Nanping Army will be built to develop another parallel street, named Bayi Road.
The old city is between Jianxi and Shaxi. In recent years, several new districts have been built at the foot of Yuping Mountain between Jiangxi and Minjiang River and Jiufeng Mountain between Shaxi and Minjiang River, and the urban area has expanded rapidly. Jiangnan New District (Eight Immortals and Xiadao) is also under active construction.
