Deviation of nasal septum to one side will inevitably lead to stenosis of this side, hinder breathing and cause nasal congestion. When catching a cold, the nasal mucosa is swollen due to congestion, and the nasal congestion is more serious.
1, headache
First, the deviation of the nasal septum will compress the turbinate and cause reflex head and face pain. Second, the deviation of nasal septum will narrow the nasal passage on one side and hinder the ventilation function of sinus. Once a sinus infection occurs, it will aggravate the headache.
2. The sense of smell drops or disappears.
When the nasal septum is deviated, it can compress and block the olfactory region, resulting in a decline in sense of smell. If chronic sinusitis and purulent secretions are stimulated for a long time, the olfactory cells will degenerate, and the sense of smell will decline or even disappear completely.
3, nosebleeds
The prominent part of nasal septum is easy to be damaged and eroded, and small blood vessels are also easy to be damaged and ruptured, leading to repeated nosebleeds.
4, the main hazards are
1. Subnasal collapse: It is basically caused by excessive removal of the bridge of the nose when the patient removes the cartilage of the nasal septum during surgery. If the postoperative nasal septum abscess is not treated in time and properly, resulting in chondromalacia and necrosis, this deformity will also occur.
2, nasal septum abscess: it is caused by bacterial infection of nasal septum hematoma. Improper timing of operation can cause incision infection during nasal infection or when there are many purulent secretions.
3, nasal septum hematoma: it is caused by bleeding between the perichondrium of the nasal septum. If the nasal packing is pulled out after operation, it is found that there are semicircular protrusions on both sides of the nasal septum, which are soft in texture. The patient complained of nasal congestion, and even if normal saline was dropped, it did not improve. The small hematoma could be absorbed by itself, and the larger hematoma needed to be treated.
4. Perforation of nasal septum: Soft tissue dissection is common during operation, which is caused by rough movements. Causing bilateral rupture of the patient at the symmetrical site. When the nasal mucosa has infectious inflammation, even unilateral tearing can cause perforation.
