Gao (Deputy Director of Pan Tianshou Memorial Hall): Mr. Wang is a very simple man. Like him, Mr. Wang's paintings have reached a certain height, and they are in a relatively free state. They are very relaxed and don't need any style, but they must show something and have an internal comprehensive desire to express it. Such a state is a state of freedom for an artist. Through this state, we can understand his life experience and his understanding of art. Teacher Wang first came back from oil painting to be a soldier and then came to the Department of Chinese Painting. Fortunately, he was educated by Mr Pan Tianshou. His paintings, especially his ink paintings, show freehand brushwork, but they are very heavy and well portrayed. He is not playing with pen and ink, but a kind of pure freehand brushwork. His freehand brushwork is closely related to his oil painting, with the imprint of oil painting.
Kong Zhongqi (Professor, China Academy of Fine Arts): Huang's paintings reflect the core concept and cultural tradition spirit of China's paintings, while Pan Tianshou's paintings reflect the relationship between traditional paintings and the times. Wang Dehui is a senior student who is proficient in the integration of Chinese and foreign ancient and modern. His paintings in his later years shocked me greatly. It should be said that watching his works will make you feel young. The youth of art has infected us, which is pleasant and sincere. In particular, he never pursues fame and fortune in painting, which is worth studying hard.
Liu Jiang (Vice President of Xiling Printing Society): His paintings are warm and straightforward, with steaming pictures, great vitality and distinctive features. The phrase "high artistic quality and high moral character" has been well verified in his paintings. Wang Dehui's paintings have strong visual impact, and Chinese painting and oil painting are integrated in his paintings. His oil paintings are very individual, with a sense of nationality and the times, which is different from other painters. They are not only Wang Dehui's own characteristics, but also very contemporary. Such a painting has never been seen before.
Yin Shula (curator of Zhejiang Art Museum): I remember that when an exhibition was held at the West Lake Art Museum, an old alumnus of the China Academy of Fine Arts said that a national artist grows old after a hundred years. I interrupted their speech and said, "It should be said that, like Mr. Wang Dehui, few painters with free thoughts and independent personalities have been trained in the Republic of China."
