The former administration of Liu Wu New District was subordinate to Liuwu Township, Lhasa, and now it is a new district.
Lhasa has jurisdiction over eight counties (districts) including Chengguan District, Linzhou County, Dangxiong County, Nimu County, Qushui County, Duilong Deqing County (the county reform area has been approved by the State Council), Dazi County and Mozhugongka County, as well as Lhasa National Economic and Technological Development Zone and Liu Wu New District, 48 townships, 9 towns, 8 sub-district offices, 224 administrative villages and 43 communities.
Tibet includes Lhasa, Linzhi, Qamdo, Xigaze, Shannan and Ali. Xizang Autonomous Region has jurisdiction over 6 prefecture-level cities, 1 region, 8 municipal districts and 66 counties.

195 1 On May 23rd, 2000, the Central People's Government and the local government of Tibet signed the Agreement between the Central People's Government and the local government of Tibet on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet (collectively referred to as the 17-Article Agreement). Tibet was peacefully liberated.
1955 On February 9th, the 7th plenary meeting in the State Council adopted the Decision of the State Council on the Establishment of preparatory committee for the tibet autonomous region.
On April 22nd, preparatory committee for the tibet autonomous region held an inaugural meeting in Lhasa and was formally established. The Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the chairman, the Panchen Lama, Erdene Quegyyazan, is the first vice-chairman and Zhang Guohua is the second vice-chairman. Abhay Ngawangjigme is the Secretary-General.
1959, 10 In March, Tibetan local government and upper-level reactionary groups openly tore up the 17-article agreement on the peaceful liberation of Tibet and held an armed rebellion in Lhasa.
On July 7th, the second plenary meeting of preparatory committee for the tibet autonomous region closed. The meeting adopted a resolution on democratic reform in Tibet. The Central People's Government and preparatory committee for the tibet autonomous region decided to comply with people in Xizang's wishes and carry out democratic reforms in Tibet ahead of schedule.
On July 24th, 1965, preparatory committee for the tibet autonomous region submitted an application to the State Council for the formal establishment of Xizang Autonomous Region.
Xizang Autonomous Region People's Committee held an election on September 8th, 1965. Ngapoi Ngawangjigme was elected Chairman of the People's Committee of the Autonomous Region. Seven people, including Zhou Renshan and Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, are vice-chairmen. On September 9th, the closing ceremony of the conference was held, and the Xizang Autonomous Region was officially proclaimed.
