Composition and structure of cartilage
Cartilage consists of cartilage tissue and its surrounding perichondrium.

1. Cartilage tissue: It consists of chondrocytes, matrix and collagen fibers, and contains collagen tissue, a few cells and 60% ~ 80% water. There are no blood vessels and nerves in adult cartilage tissue, so the ability of cartilage tissue to repair itself after injury is limited.

2. Cartilage membrane: a dense gelatinous substance, firm but more elastic than bone, which is the main component of many protozoa such as sharks.
