Quartz sand is sent to the hopper by belt conveyor or bucket elevator, and then enters the feeding end through the feeder of the hopper and the feeding pipe. The inclination of the feed pipe should be greater than the natural inclination of the material, so that the material can flow into the dryer smoothly. The drying cylinder is a rotary cylinder slightly inclined to the horizontal line. The material is added from the higher end, and the heat carrier enters from the lower end and contacts with the material in countercurrent, or the heat carrier and the material flow into the cylinder together. With the rotation of the cylinder, the material moves to the lower end under the action of gravity.

In the process of moving forward in the cylinder, the wet material is directly or indirectly heated by the heat carrier to dry it, and then it is sent out by the belt conveyor or screw conveyor at the discharge end. The inner wall of the cylinder is equipped with a material copying plate, which is used for copying and scattering materials, so as to increase the contact surface between materials and airflow, thereby improving the drying speed and promoting the forward movement of materials. Heat carriers are generally divided into hot air, flue gas and so on. After the heat carrier passes through the dryer, a cyclone separator is usually needed to collect the substances carried in the gas. If it is necessary to further reduce the dust content in the tail gas, it should be discharged through a bag filter or a wet filter.
