How to Prune Hydroponic Rich Bamboo
Pruning method of rich bamboo

The buds of Fugui bamboo grow very long or are inserted in water for a long time, and the bamboo stems are invaded by bacteria, so they all need pruning and replanting.

Pruning Fu Guizhu requires gardening scissors or a sharp knife. Cut at a distance of about 0.5 cm from Fu Guizhu, and dry the cut in a cool and ventilated place. Disinfect bamboo incision and soak it in potassium permanganate solution for about 30 minutes to prevent incision infection. Then re-insert the vase for maintenance.

Maintenance method of Fu Guizhu after pruning

Hydroponics Fu Guizhu likes rotten water, so it is not suitable to change water after taking root. Water can only be replenished in time after water evaporation is reduced, which is easy to cause yellow branches to wither. In order to prevent it from growing white, it is best to inject a few drops of brandy into the bottle every three weeks and add a small amount of nutrient solution to keep the leaves green.

After the soil is matured, a small amount of compound fertilizer should be applied in time to make the branches grow thick and the leaves oily green. Apply compound fertilizer/kloc-0 per month in spring and autumn.

How did Fu Guizhu propagate?

Fu Guizhu is propagated by cutting. Pruning is combined with plastic pruning. As the plant grows taller, the leaves at the base of the stem often fall off, and the plant deformation is poor. In the growing season, the stem can be cut into 5- 10 cm as cuttings and cut into vermiculite or river sand. Generally, it can take root and sprout in 1-2 weeks.

Potted bamboo can be planted with humus soil, garden soil and river sand in the same amount, or with coconut bran and humus soil and a small amount of base fertilizer as cultivation soil. In the growing season of Fu Guizhu, the soil in the pot should always be moist, and water should be sprayed on the leaves frequently to maintain a high environmental humidity. If it is too dry, the leaves will dry up.

The pot soil for cultivating Fu Guizhu in winter should not be too wet, but water should be sprayed on the leaves frequently, and attention should be paid to cold protection to prevent the leaves from yellowing, shrinking or even falling off. The suitable growth temperature of Phyllostachys pubescens is above 5℃.

From May to September, when bamboo grows vigorously, apply liquid fertilizer or granular compound fertilizer 2-3 times a month to keep the leaves green and bright. Fu Guizhu is not strict with light, so it is suitable for growing in bright scattered light and should avoid direct sunlight. If exposed or dried in the sun, the leaves will be rough, scorched and dull, which will reduce the ornamental value.

Fu Guizhu is easy to take root and survive, and is very popular in hydroponics. Hydroponics are popular in the market at present. The key of Fu Guizhu hydroponics is to keep a proper amount of water in flowerpots or vases at any time, and often add water. The window sill should be exposed to 1-2 days of sunshine every month. Apply a small amount of flower fertilizer to the water every two months, and add 10 drop of vinegar to the basin every month in the area north of the Yellow River.
