Lin Ji (? -109 1 year), Gong Ji, a native of Baiquan Village, li jinxi, Pingxiang County, Youxi County (now Bai Quan, the central village of Xinyang Town). In the sixth year of the Song Dynasty (1046), he was a scholar and awarded a judge. He is the first recorded scholar in Youxi County.
Lin Ji is an honest official, not greedy for money. Emperor Ming Shenzong praised him as "incorruptible".
When Lin Ji was young, he went to Beijing to study for the exam and stayed in an inn in Cai Zhou (now Runan, Henan). In the guest room, Lin Ji found a cloth bag containing hundreds of big pearls. To be on the safe side, Lin Ji put the pearls in the box basket. The next day, Lin Ji asked the shopkeeper who lived in this room yesterday. The shopkeeper said it was a big businessman. Lin Ji told the shopkeeper, "This man is an old friend of mine. If he comes back for him, you can ask him to see the Taoist temple in the capital and ask Lin Ji. Never! Never! Don't mess things up! " In spite of this, Lin Ji is not at ease. He was afraid that the owner would forget, so he posted a handwritten note along the road: "On a certain day in a certain year, there was an itch in Jianpu Linyi Holiday Pavilion, and there was an old friend Zhu Yuan in Tongguanzhai, so we can meet." Soon, the huge businessman found that he had lost his pearl and rushed to the inn. After listening to the news sent by the shipowner to Lin Ji, he immediately rushed to the capital to find Lin Ji. Lin Ji returned all the pearls after verifying the situation. The huge businessman was so grateful that he gave Lin Ji half of his pearls as a reward. Lin Ji said, "How dare you say that! If I want you half the time, I don't have to post a list of hands along the road for you to find. " Insist on returning the jewels in full.
Lin Ji entered the official career with his excellent quality of being unmoved by fame and fortune. When he was a judge in Zhou Xun, he was in charge of a "piracy case". The boss asked Lin Ji to punish the case severely to make a good record, and promised that Lin Ji could be promoted after the case was completed. Lin Ji was unmoved by fame and fortune, and insisted on enforcing the law impartially. After repeated trials and evidence collection, he decided that this was an unjust case and acquitted 58 defendants.
Lin Ji is not only strict with self-discipline, fair and strict, but also very concerned about people's livelihood and local economic development. When he was a magistrate of Liuhe County, Anhui Province, Liuhe County was a very poor place, with nine disasters in ten years, either drought or waterlogging. Under the advocacy of forest products, the county dug 36 ponds to store water for irrigation, which not only prevented waterlogging but also drought, and promoted the development of local agricultural production. Soon, Lin Ji was promoted to Dongxier Road in Guangnan. Guangnan is rich in silver and copper, and the mining of silver and copper is an important tax source of the country. Lin Ji personally went deep into the mine, carefully planned the development of silver and copper mines, guided the improvement of smelting technology and increased output; And actively dredge the transportation and marketing, so that the mine profits increase, the government increases taxes, and the people also increase their income. At the same time, Lin Ji has also strengthened the management of urban ports, mediated foreign-related relations, attracted foreign businessmen, and promoted the prosperity of local trade.
During Xining period, Lin Ji worked in Sizhou, Anhui Province. At that time, Wang Anshi, a reformist, was appointed as prime minister. Wang Anshi valued Lin Ji very much and reported his achievements in Sizhou to the court. Emperor Song Shenzong sent a special message, announcing that Lin Ji was in Beijing and praising his "honesty".
During the reign of Yuan You, Lin Ji served as the transshipment ambassador of Henan. Henan is one of the main suppliers of living materials in Kyoto. Only the grain transportation in Henan Province transports about 4 million stones to Kyoto every year. After Lin Ji became the Henan transshipment ambassador, he attached great importance to rectifying grain transportation, and urged Changping Company and its shipping company to do a good job in price management and transportation scheduling.
In June of the sixth year (109 1), Lin broke down from overwork and died in any place in Henan.
