Triangular trade, john howe Jenkins.
1559 Hawkins married Catherine gunson, daughter of Benjamin gunson, the naval financial officer. With the support of Benjamin Gunson, his colleagues and London businessmen, Hawkins led the fleet to sea in June 1562 and began his first slave trade trip. The fleet consists of three ships, of which the largest "Solomon" is 120 tons. In order to facilitate navigation in new sea areas, Hawkins took a Spaniard as a navigator on Tenerife Island in the Canary Islands, and then sailed to the coast of Guinea. There, he easily captured 300 blacks. With these "live goods", they crossed the Atlantic Ocean and went to a small Spanish island in the West Indies (that is, Haiti Island) and sold them to Spanish colonists in exchange for a large number of "skins, ginger, sugar and jewels" there. In September, 1563, they returned with full loads. This is the earliest "triangle trade" in Britain. As the founder of the British slave trade, Hawkins not only won fame and a lot of property, but also became the earliest pirate leader in the history of Britain.
