Main scientific research achievements:

1. The study on mineralogy, local high-pressure oxidation atmosphere and multi-cycle diffusion discoloration process of Shandong sapphire, a characteristic gem variety in China, has reached the leading level in China. On the basis of in-depth study on the coloring mechanism of sapphire, the transparency, brightness and light color of sapphire after color change are improved, and it has good stability, which improves the aesthetic value and economic value of limited gem resources in China. The publication of this achievement won the Young Teachers Publishing Fund Award of China Geo University 1997.

2. The research on the relationship between silicification and antimony mineralization in Xikuangshan antimony deposit, Hunan Province, and the time of main minerals and typomorphic characteristics of stibnite are innovative. The silicified alteration model obtained through the geological research and comprehensive analysis of the deposit is of great significance for analyzing the formation process and mechanism of antimony deposits and prospecting. The typomorphic characteristics of genetic mineralogy and prospecting mineralogy of Yingshi and stibnite are obtained, which provides an important basis for genetic analysis and prospecting of the deposit. In particular, the research on the measurement method of timely crystallinity index and its geological significance has made great progress after the research of American and Russian scholars, and has been applied to solve the hydrothermal dynamics of gold mineralization, which has broad geoscience application prospects.

3. Professor Zhao Lei and others discovered and determined the K-Mg lamprophyre for the first time in Keriyang Research Work Area of West Kunlun, Xinjiang through mineralogy, petrography, geochemistry and isotope geochemistry, which provided important clues for finding K-Mg lamprophyre.

4. By studying the prospecting criteria and metallogenic regularity of Hetian jade, the prospecting direction is defined, and the prospecting in the old ore spot and the periphery of the mining area is expanded. Furthermore, the gemmology of Hetian jade is studied in detail, and a complete set of physical and optical parameters is established, which provides a basis for the identification and evaluation of Hetian jade, and successfully improves the quality, purity and whiteness of jade, which has important economic value. This is of great significance to China's current western resource development and economic development.

5. The national science and technology basic work project "National Rock Fossil Specimen Bank" has made important progress, collecting model fossils and typical rock mineral specimens in China, providing online services for domestic and foreign experts and enjoying resources to the maximum extent.
