Baotou teachers college is located in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which enjoys the reputation of "World Rare Earth Capital". Its predecessor was baotou teachers college founded in 1958. 1996, renamed baotou teachers college. In 2000, baotou teachers college merged with the former baotou teachers college and Baotou Education Colleges and was upgraded to an undergraduate college, renamed baotou teachers college. In 2003, it merged with Baotou Iron and Steel Institute and Baotou Medical College to form Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. In 2004, with the approval of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it resumed its independent legal personality in the name of baotou teachers college, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology.
