Repair and protection of cotton trousers with hidden brocade: cotton trousers with hidden brocade are the clothes worn by Gui, the tomb owner, when he was buried. When they were sent to the Textile Repair Department of the Archaeological Institute, they were still in a damp state in the tomb, compressed and kept in a large unprotected black plastic bag. Cotton trousers are mainly made of silk fabrics. Due to the long-term erosion of various factors in the underground environment, the mechanical strength of silk fabrics has been destroyed, and the feel is rough and hard.

The cotton trousers before repair (front and back) are inlaid with dark brocade and gold brocade.

Moreover, the microorganisms in the tombs and the pollutants in the corpses themselves will also stain the fibers to varying degrees, resulting in serious deterioration such as fading, mildew and fouling, and the silk fabric loses its luster as a whole, and all its original colors fall off beyond recognition. Round gold and thin gold thread are woven on the cotton trousers fabric, and the adhesive of gold thread has mostly melted and failed, resulting in a large area of metal material falling off on the back of gold thread paper and mottled gold thread pattern surface.

According to the principle of protection and restoration of textile cultural relics, combined with the present situation of cotton trousers, the restorers drew up a road map of restoration technology. Starting from disinfection, image collection, drawing, fabric material analysis, fabric structure variety identification, sample collection, mildew prevention, gold protection, cleaning, drying in the shade, setting and other links, the traditional protection technology and modern technical means were combined to protect and restore the cultural relics, which lasted more than one month.
