The street scope of Hongwu Road starts from Inner Qinhuai River in the east, ends at Zhongshan South Road in the west, ends at Changfu Street, Hubu Street and Yangpi Lane in the north, and ends at Jiankang Road and Shengzhou Road in the south.

Hongwu Road Street was established in June 1955, formerly known as Longwangmiao Street, and renamed Hongwu Road Street in 1978. In February 1988, the division was adjusted and merged with Mafu Street to form Hongwu Road Street. In December 28, it merged with Jiankang Road Street, retaining the name of Hongwu Road Street to this day.
