Children's strabismus needs early surgical correction. Strabismus is not only a matter of appearance for children, but also directly affects their visual development. Delayed treatment will not only lead to amblyopia, but also eventually lose the function of both eyes and one eye, which will bring serious consequences to future work and life. Therefore, strabismus in children should be treated surgically as soon as possible. Congenital esotropia should be operated before the age of two, and strabismus should be operated before the age of 5-6. However, because the child is young, the operation must be carried out under general anesthesia. Under general anesthesia, the surgeon can only complete the operation according to the experience and theoretical amount of operation, and can't observe and adjust the eye position during the operation. According to foreign literature, the reoperation rate of strabismus in children is as high as 60%, which makes many children suffer from reoperation and increases the psychological burden for parents.

In order to solve the problem of high reoperation rate of strabismus in children, Beijing Children's Hospital adopted quantitative adjustment technology of extraocular muscles, which has been continuously improved through years of clinical practice, and the success rate of surgery is as high as 93%.
