What if the prosthesis is exposed after rhinoplasty?
Take it out as soon as possible

1. The tension is too large, and the stress of the prosthesis is unbalanced.

After the prosthesis is placed in the nasal cavity, a coating will be formed between its surface and surrounding tissues, which will produce continuous contraction force for the implanted prosthesis. If the stress on a certain part of the prosthesis is uneven, or the resultant force of the stress makes the prosthesis move in a certain direction, there may be problems at the point where the pressure is strong or the point where the prosthesis finally moves.

2. Poor carving of prosthesis

The rough carving and poor overall shape of the prosthesis lead to uneven stress on the prosthesis, thinning the local skin and eventually leading to wear of the prosthesis.

Main manifestations: the prosthesis is too long. The appropriate length should generally be that the upper end of the prosthesis is located on the central axis of the face, that is, the middle and upper1/3 between the middle point of the eyebrow and the middle point of the corner of the eye; There is no obvious tension after the lower end is inserted into the tip of the nose, especially not to make the skin of the tip of the nose pale and hinder blood circulation. Prolonging the prosthesis for the sake of nose length is an important cause of nasal tip swelling and perforation after operation.

3. Willow prosthesis is easier to slide down and wear than L prosthesis.

At present, there are mainly two kinds of nasal prostheses used in clinic: "willow leaf type" and "L type". Nasal plastic surgery experts believe that the exposure of the prosthesis is not only related to the doctor's skills, such as the carving and embedding level of the prosthesis, but also related to the shape of the prosthesis as "L" or "willow leaf" (here refers to simply padding the nose). From the mechanical point of view, willow prosthesis has no short arm support, and it is easy to slide down and shift due to gravity, resulting in skin puncture.

What needs to be explained here is that in the later stage of L-shaped prosthesis, it is easy to cause problems such as nostril deformity and serious imbalance of nasal lobules. The best solution is to support the nose on the basis of willow prosthesis to prevent the prosthesis from slipping.

4. Influence

After augmentation rhinoplasty, local acute infection occurs when there is local redness, obvious tenderness, bloody or purulent exudate. In this case, the prosthesis should be removed as soon as possible.

Conservative treatment of infection is often ineffective, and anti-inflammatory treatment can only temporarily relieve it, and it will still recur in the future. Because the prosthesis itself has strong adsorption, if it is not taken out in time, it is not easy to completely remove bacteria. In addition, due to the lack of careful operation, focal necrosis of tissue is also the cause of this kind of infection.

5. Rejection reaction

The clinical manifestation is that after the swelling subsides, the skin becomes red and swollen again, which will change with the health status. Some beauty seekers still feel uncomfortable after two years of rhinoplasty. The right nasal root swelled several times at the junction of hard and cartilage, and the anti-inflammatory treatment was ineffective. Finally, the skin is punctured and the prosthesis can only be taken out.

6. Poor suture of incision

When sewing, the skin butt joint is not good, and the tension at the sewing place is too high. Although it healed temporarily after operation, the skin repair condition was not good, and it would gradually crack in the later stage.

In addition, the exposure rate of prosthesis in the lateral incision of nasal columella is also high, especially when the short arm of prosthesis is too long or too wide or the tunnel of nasal columella is insufficient.

External factors, such as improper hand picking of nostrils by beauty seekers at the initial stage of suture removal, may also lead to nasal infection.

After rhinoplasty, after all, there will be a wound inside the nose, so you can't touch and hit it with force. These are all things to consider before rhinoplasty. I hope no one will encounter the exposure of the collapsed prosthesis.
