Laojun Mountain in Luanchuan, formerly known as Shi Jing, is located in the south of Luanchuan County, Luoyang City, and is a 5A-level scenic spot. At an altitude of 2 192 meters, it is one of the three main peaks of Funiu Mountain. According to legend, Laozi, the founder of Taoism, once practiced in seclusion in this mountain, hence the name Laojun Mountain. Literati and poets in past dynasties admired Laojun Mountain. Xie Zhen, a poet in Ming Dynasty, once lamented that the beauty of Laojun Mountain was "majestic with Mount Tai, steep with Mount Hua and hazy with Mount Lu".
