Miluo is a county-level city managed by Yueyang City, Hunan Province, located in the northeast of Hunan Province, close to the east bank of Dongting Lake and downstream of Miluo River. Miluo City borders Changsha County and Wangcheng District in the east and southeast, Xiangyin County and Yuanjiang City in the west, Yueyang County in the north and Pingjiang County in the northeast. Because of the confluence of backwater and Luoshui in China, its downstream is called Miluo River, and because of its famous city, it is "the famous Dragon Boat City in China". The total area is 1669.8 km2, and the urban area is close to 10 km2.
The traffic in Miluo is developed, and Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, National Highway 107 and Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway run through the city. Miluo has a solid agricultural foundation and is a commodity grain base county (city) in China. The distribution market of renewable resources was approved by the State Council as a national circular economy pilot. The Miluo River is the place where Qu Yuan, a writer in the Warring States Period, drowned himself. There are Quzi Temple, Qu Yuan Mu and other historical buildings commemorating Qu Yuan.
Miluo City was named as the national advanced county in basic education, national advanced county in sports and national advanced city in health.
According to textual research, at the latest in the Neolithic Age, 9000 years ago, ancestors flourished in the Miluo River area, which belongs to the category of Longshan culture in Daxi.
In the seventh year of King Zhuang of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (690 BC), Chu Wuwang destroyed Luozi State and moved the adherents from Yicheng (now Yicheng, Hubei) to Zhijiang near Danyang (now Zigui, Hubei).
