How does the ritual of offering sacrifices to gods promote local operas?
At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Taizong appointed Wei Wei, the founder of Taoist Shangqing School, and sent an imperial envoy to Hebei to let Weichi Gong build a palace in Yangluo Mountain.

Since then, every year from the third day of the third lunar month, more than ten days of sacrificial activities will be held here, and folk songs and dances from all over the country will also come to perform.

During the Tang and Song Dynasties, the expansion of Purple Virtual Goddess Palace brought endless sacrificial activities and promoted the development of song and dance. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, a rural folk custom continued in Qinyang area. Whenever there are festivals, temple fairs and sacrifices, people will hold folk flower parties. The flower show includes a variety of folk art forms, such as social fire, dragon lantern, stilts, horse racing, dry boat, flower arrangement, wind swinging willow and so on.

Among them, the leader of the social fire activity is a large-scale activity called "Team Play", which is compiled by a village and a community according to some historical stories, holding knives, guns, swords and halberds and jumping while walking.

In the Ming Dynasty, Qinyang was adjacent to the Yellow River in the south, and Jishui, Qinhe, Manghe and Danhe crossed the border, and the river often overflowed. People think it is Poseidon. Huaiqing House is backed by Taihang Mountain, which belongs to the north temperate climate, and sometimes it is dry. People think it's Poseidon.

Therefore, in the Hongwu and Yongle periods of the Ming Dynasty, worshipping Poseidon became a sacrificial activity for local people to pray for peace and good weather. According to the form of team performance, people organize some artists, do not wear makeup, do not go on stage, do not perform, rap around the table and pray for rain.

When offering sacrifices, the offerings are placed in front of the gods, and a water snake is placed on the table and plate. According to legend, it is the embodiment of the "River King", and the masses sing around the "River King", so it is called "Poseidon Drama".

The lyrics of Poseidon's operas are mostly folklore, historical stories and local folk customs. The legend that fisherman Liu Laoweng died because the Yellow River flooded to save people from drowning was later edited into the drama Liu Beard Fishing.

Compared with "team play", "Poseidon play" has taken another step forward. It has been staged all the time, singing with folk songs, beating with gongs and drums, beating the old eight boards with sheng and flute, and beating the rhythm with wooden bangers. At this time, the Poseidon class, which performed Poseidon Drama, did not perform for business, but mostly used the method of encircling drums, that is, stall performance and bench play.

The so-called "bench head play" means that the drummers, string pullers and singers in the village get together, pull a few benches and sit together, with a square table, musical instruments and tea in the middle. No make-up or boxes, accompanied by banhu, no charge, and the food, drink and meager remuneration of the actors are paid by the village community or the rich gentry.

Over time, as long as it doesn't rain for a long time or something happens in the village, people will organize to sing and hope that the Dragon King will rain early. People call this kind of singing "Bantou Opera", and because it was produced in Huaiqing House, namely Qinyang, people also call it "Huai Bang".

With the development of time, Huai Bang gradually prospered. In the middle of Qing Dynasty, Quban Society appeared in Huai Bang, and began to operate in rural areas, sometimes singing "birthday" or "wishing" for extended families.

The most influential troupe in this period was the troupe in Qinyang area, and a trainee from Shulou Township, Qinyang City was called "Mr. Li". During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, he was the head of the thief-catching class in the county. He loved Chinese opera since childhood, so he organized two troupes in 19 19, including the first and second troupes, with Huai Bang as the heads of the two troupes.

Class Two drama has become a gathering place for famous actors in Huai Bang, and many actors have the reputation of "covering eight counties". Such as Dandan, Hong Wei and Xiaocui, they have a wide range of operas, superb skills and excellent singing and acting. They seldom lose to each other in duet. Qinyang area is well known, leaving many proverbs:

Local cattle selling depends on the red cone, Xiaocui's "double filial piety" for three days without salt, and Cheng Xiao's "going to the building" for three days without oil.

Performances include Peach Blossom Temple, Anti-Western Tang Dynasty, Anti-Chang 'an, Handing Firearms, Hide and Seek, etc.

During this period, Huai Bang's business division of labor has been very clear, and clothing, makeup and singing have also become very mature. Huai Bang Opera Troupe mainly teaches traditional Chinese opera orally.

When learning to sing, the old artist slapped his thighs with his hands and taught the singer word by word. If the singer is inattentive or makes mistakes, he will be punished and beaten by his master. When learning to perform, the master gives the learner a gesture. Teaching apprentices to learn has no fixed form and is not standardized. This is "learning to play" and it is a hobby.

If you want to formally learn from the teacher, you need to be introduced, and there is a formal learning ceremony. When the apprentice is officially accepted, the apprentice acceptance ceremony will be held first, which will be introduced by the guarantor. With the consent of both master and apprentice, including parents, kowtow to the master three times in public and sign the contract as evidence.

By the end of Qing Dynasty, the development of Huai-Qing Dynasty was unstoppable, and the Huai Bang performance activities organized by the rising Huai-Qing businessmen to promote the four major Huai-Qing medicines, fabrics and silks and continuously expand the market accelerated the development and maturity of Huai-Qing Dynasty.

With the firm pace of Huaiqing business group, Huai Bang gradually moved to Hubei, Hebei, Shaanxi, Shaanxi and other vast areas, and even set foot in Beijing, Northeast China, Guangdong and other places, and became famous for a time, with the reputation of "Huai Bang as the five capitals".

Due to the differences of external influences on different performance scopes and artists' own conditions, mainly the differences in sound and pronunciation, their artistic development is not the same, thus forming "Huai Bang on the East Road" and "Huai Bang on the West Road", which have their own characteristics and independent portals and audiences.

Taking Jiaozuo as the center, it spreads to the east of Jiaozuo, including Xiuwu, Wuzhi, Huojia, Xinxiang, Yuanyang, Huixian and Jiaozuo, all of which are Huai Bang on the east road. Spread in the west of Jiaozuo, including Qinyang, wen county, Mengzhou, Jiyuan, Yuanqu and other places, it is the western road of Huai Bang.

The representative of East Road Huai Bang is Cui Fuling, a famous old artist, whose stage name is "Strange Blue Ocean". His stage play is excellent, including some vivid and clean lines. His singing is soft, his voice is smooth, his pronunciation is clear and mellow, his charm is mellow, and his voice and emotion are both rich. He uses clever words when singing, and he is good at narrative and lyric, giving people a simple, powerful and clear feeling.

Cui Fuling is good at depicting characters with simple and delicate techniques in performances. The main Dan operas performed are The Journey to the West, Golden Cicada, Sitting on the Building in Song Dynasty, Shanhaiguan, Peach Blossom Temple and Fengyi Pavilion.

Huai Bang in West Road is played by Zhang Shuzhu, a bearded old man from Geba County. His stage name is Mazhu. The troupe led by him often performs Erlang Mountain, Seven Langs and Eight Tigers Rushing into Youzhou, Ma Cuidong, Selling Miao Lang, Catching the Qin Dynasty, Crossing the Firearms, Anti-Chang 'an and so on. Zhang Shuzhu is a famous veteran of both civil and military skills. He attaches great importance to python's shelving style, including some roles of Dan.

Singing West Road is a hard-winding singing method, which is characterized by high voice, high emotion, flat and simple singing, high and straight. This is in line with the style of the plays they often perform. Huai Bang, on the West Road, is bold and unconstrained, and still maintains a big posture. Although East and West Huai Bang have their own characteristics, they often perform on the same stage.

Since then, on the basis of the language tone centered on Huaiqing Building, a unique local opera "Huai Bang" has been formed.
