The definition of live broadcast in Radio and Television Dictionary is "the broadcast mode in which the late (haobc) synthesis and broadcast of radio and television programs are carried out simultaneously". According to the broadcast occasion, it can be divided into live broadcast and studio or studio live broadcast. Live TV broadcast refers to a way of making and broadcasting TV programs synchronously with the occurrence and development of live events, which fully embodies the advantages of radio and television media.

Since 2000, with the advent of the Internet era, live television has gradually been replaced by live webcast, which has become synonymous with "live broadcast".

In April, 20021,the State Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, State Taxation Administration of The People's Republic of China, the State Administration of Market Supervision and the State Administration of Radio and Television jointly issued the Management Measures for Webcast Marketing (Trial).
