Badong county is located in east longitude11004 ˊ-1032 ˊ, north latitude 30 28 ˊ-3128 ˊ, Bashong, the middle section of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Hubei Province. It borders Xingshan, Zigui and Changyang Tujia Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County in the southeast, Hefeng County in the south, Jianshi and Wushan County in Chongqing in the west, and Shenlongjia Forest Region in the north.
Xinling Town, the county seat, is close to the south bank of the Yangtze River, where National Highway 209 meets the Yangtze River. By waterway, it goes down to Wuhan along the Yangtze River, up to Chongqing in Jiangxi Province, and by land, it reaches Enshi, the state capital, via National Highway 209 and 3 18. National Highway 209 connects the north and south, National Highway 3 18 runs through the east and west, and the southwest is connected with National Highway 3 18 along National Highway 209, with convenient transportation. The land area is 335 1.6 square kilometers.
As of 20 18, the county has jurisdiction over 2 townships, 10 town, 1 economic development zone, 30 1 village, 2 1 community and 3,820 villagers' groups. 1853 12 households with 492,722 people, of whom ethnic minorities account for 50.5% of the total population.
