The bride price borrowed by the man, does the woman have to pay the debt?
Legal analysis: the bride price borrowed by the man is a personal debt before marriage, and the woman has no obligation to repay after marriage. The debts incurred by both husband and wife after the same signature or ratification by one party, and the debts incurred by one party in his own name for the daily needs of the family during the marriage relationship, belong to the same debt of husband and wife. Debts incurred by one spouse in his own name during the marriage relationship that exceed the needs of family daily life are not joint debts of husband and wife; However, the creditor can prove that the debt is used for the husband and wife's life, production and operation, or based on the same meaning of both husband and wife.

Legal basis: Article 5 (1) of the Supreme People's Court's Interpretation on the Application of Marriage and Family in the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC), if a party requests to return the bride price paid according to custom, the people's court shall support it if it is found that it belongs to the following circumstances:

(1) Both parties have not gone through the marriage registration formalities;

(2) Both parties have gone through the marriage registration formalities, but they have not lived together;

(3) premarital payment, causing difficulties to the payer.

The application of items 2 and 3 of the preceding paragraph is conditional on the divorce of both parties.
