Ezhou is located in the east of Hubei Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is connected to Wuhan in the west, Huangshi in the east and Huanggang in the north. The central part of Ezhou is advantaged, and its north, east and south are about 1000 kilometers away from Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Guangzhou. Ezhou covers an area of 1594 square kilometers, with high terrain in the southeast, low terrain in the northwest and low terrain in the middle. The highest point "Sifeng Mountain" is 485.8m above sea level, and the lowest point "liangzi lake" is11.7m above sea level.
Ezhou has 133 lakes with a water area of 650,000 mu. It is a famous "City of Hundred Lakes" and "Land of Fish and Rice". Among them, liangzi lake, Fiona Fang, one of the top ten famous lakes in China, covers an area of more than 300 square kilometers. There are islands in the lake, and there are lakes in the island. Ezhou now governs Echeng District, Huarong District, Liangzihu District, gedian Economic and Technological Development Zone and Airport Economic Zone.
Ezhou has a long history. When Yaodi was Fan Guo, Xia was the capital of Hubei and Shang was the country of Hubei. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the king of Chu and the king of Hubei made fiefs here, and during the Three Kingdoms period, Sun Quan proclaimed himself emperor here. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the King of Chu Xiong went ill, named his son Xiong Hong King of Ezhou, and built Lake North City, which is also the origin of Hubei's abbreviation "E".
