Huangbian Village, Pucheng County: Looking for the West Gate (White Tiger Gate) Site of Guangling in Tang Dynasty
Tang Guangling is located on Yaoshan Mountain, about 0/0 km north of Pucheng County, Weinan City. It is the tomb of Tang Muzong Hengli, and its main peak is about 109 1 m above sea level. On the afternoon of 2021August 15, when my friends and I passed by the west side of Tang Guangling, we came across the Ximen (White Tiger Gate) site here-

Shen: "A Brother of Shaanxi" after 1990s.

The site of the West Gate of Guangling in Tang Dynasty is located on the hillside about 300 meters north of Huangbian Village, Xiangcun Town, Pucheng County, with high terrain and broad vision. On June 25th, 20001year, as an important part of the Tang Mausoleum, the Ximen Site of the Tang Guangling was announced by the State Council as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

At about 3: 30 in the afternoon, we left the site of the North Gate of Tang Jingling and went to the site of the East Gate of Tang Jingling. When passing by Huangbian Village, I saw the site of rammed earth Quetai on the satellite map. I thought this was the site of the East Gate of Tang Jingling. When I walked to the edge of the site, I found that this was the site of the West Gate of Guangling in Tang Dynasty.

At the western end of Huangbian Village, along the straight dirt road, climb the wide platform to the north, and you can see the whole picture of the site of the west gate of Guangling in Tang Dynasty. Now there are rammed earth Quetai ruins and stone lions in the north and south.

Later, I operated my own drone to take an aerial photograph of the West Gate Site of Guangling in Tang Dynasty. After the drone rises from the edge of the site, it flies over the site from west to east and passes between the rammed earth Quetai site and the Shishi. Then, fly a big circle around the site, where the historical sites and the surrounding natural environment can be seen at a glance.

Ximen site is located about 1.4 km southwest of the main peak of the Tang Guangling, with rolling mountains in the north and endless plains in the south. Located about 3 kilometers northeast of the main peak of Tang Jingling, facing the site of the North Gate of Tang Jingling (Xuanwu Gate), there is a wide ravine between the two tombs.

At present, the Ximen site of Guangling in Tang Dynasty has not taken too many protective measures, and the surrounding area is still a field, which basically maintains its original historical features and is rarely visited. The two rammed earth abutments are conical, the residual height is about 6 meters, and the distance between north and south is about 50 meters. About 50 meters inside the rammed earth platform, there are two stone lions on the platform made of blue bricks.

Two beautifully carved stone lions stand on the west gate with their backs to the main peak of Tang Guangling, imposing. These two stone lions are carved from a whole piece of limestone, and their bodies and bases are connected as a whole. The overall height is about 150 cm, and the chest width is about 85 cm.

Two stone lions are about 30 meters apart from the north and south, squatting on a two-story stone foundation, sitting east and west, holding their heads high. The lion in the south is a male lion. Shut up and grin. His hair is curly. The stone lion on the north side is a lioness with her mouth open and her hair stretched.

These two stone lions in the Ximen site of Guangling in the Tang Dynasty are well preserved, with clear facial features, prominent brow bones, prominent cheekbones and fat posture. Shishi is short in size, with rough carving techniques and obvious characteristics of the times, which is basically consistent with the existing style of Shishi in Jingling, Tang Dynasty.
