Wangjiang three filial piety. Where did it come from?
The third filial piety has to start with Xu Zhongyuan. According to legend, during the reign of Dezong in the Tang Dynasty, Xu Zhongyuan served as an imperial edict, and his father Xu Shengweng was transferred from Xuancheng to Wangjiang County Magistrate, and later settled in Wangjiang. His former residence was ten miles north of the county seat (there was no county seat at that time) (now Kejiafan Village, Taici Town). He is now the originator of the Xu family in Taici town, and it is from him that the old county annals have all kinds of county orders. Xu Zhongyuan is famous for his filial piety, and his deeds of filial piety to his mother are widely circulated among the people. During Zhenyuan period, mother Li's left eye was red and swollen, crying all day long, and the pain was unbearable. She can't sleep in bed all day, so it's no use asking a famous doctor to give her medication. Slowly, her left eye went blind, and then the symptoms of her left eye began to appear again. The doctors invited were very helpless. His mother's groans worried him. On the way back from inviting the doctor, she heard two old people talking together, saying that the speaker had no intention, but the listener had a heart. With this glimmer of hope, Zhong Yuan went home and prepared to cut meat and stew it for his mother. After all, he wants to cut meat. He used to be a scholar, and he felt very thin, only with some meat on his thighs. He considered how to cut it off. That night, he found a knife at home and ground it on the grindstone. Early the next morning, he set the incense table and asked his wife to burn a pot of wormwood water.

The corpse, then called the lady out, closed the door, bowed three times in front of the incense table, took off his coat, picked up the knife with his hand, and resolutely cut off a muscle on his thigh. He didn't want to tell the lady, but after he cut off the muscle on his leg, he bled all over the floor, sweating and shaking. After finding a piece of white cloth and dressing the wound, he couldn't even lift his hand, and he resisted. I almost fainted, and then I began to cry. Zhongyuan advised her for a long time, comforted her and told her not to show it in front of her mother. She found a crock, put the bloody meat in it, and made soup in the kitchen while crying. She finally stayed up until noon, then choked back her tears, lifted her mother out of bed and slowly fed her soup with a spoon. Coincidentally, after her mother drank the soup, the pain began to ease the next day and it was red and swollen.

His mother used to be afraid of thunder. Whenever there is a thunderstorm, the Central Plains hugs her tightly to protect her from being frightened. After her death, she was buried in the south of the house. Whenever there was a thunderstorm, he ran to the cemetery, squatted in front of her grave and shouted, "The Central Plains is here, the Central Plains is here." His filial piety also touched the sky. In the future, lightning and thunder will bypass the cemetery forever, and thunder will never be heard again. When Qu Xinling, the county magistrate at that time, learned about it, he played it in the court. Deeply moved, Dezong named his hometown Zhao Xianli and his hometown Xiaogan Township in recognition of Xu Zhongyuan's filial piety. After the death of Zhongyuan, later generations buried him next to his mother's grave. Strangely, people often see wild animals digging for graves in the Central Plains, and birds holding flowers inserted in graves in the Central Plains. After the county magistrate and Anqing prefect learned about this, they played it in the court. In order to carry forward his filial piety, Emperor Dezong ordered to build a filial pier and a Baihuaxuan in the former residence of the Central Plains, and erected a monument in front of the grave to commemorate it.

After the death of the Central Plains, his descendants went to the fifth generation and moved to Huanggang, Poyang, Jiangxi, in order to escape the war. Time and space have changed. Hundreds of years later, at the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, Xu Tianlong and Xu Longteng moved back to Wangjiang from Jiangxi to settle down because they missed their ancestors. Xu Shidang, the son of Tianlong, a bachelor of Hanlin, built a shrine in the north corner of the county to pay homage to Wang Xiang and Xu Zhongyuan, the famous filial son of Meng Zong, who spread in Wangjiang in ancient times, and named it San Xiao Temple.

There was no city in Wangjiang County, and it was not until the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty that the county was established. At that time, there were five gates in the county, and the north gate was opposite to Xuzhong's residence and Xiaogan Mountain, the cemetery. Therefore, it is named Xiaogan Gate, and the south gate is opposite to the ice pool Wang Xiang, so it is called Yue Liyu Gate.

After the completion of San Xiao Temple, people came in an endless stream, and many celebrities and bachelors wrote poems and lyrics to commemorate and admire them. Long Lan, a scholar in Ming Dynasty, Long Guang, Shen Gao and Hu Yuanfen, a magistrate of a county, wrote dozens of mourning poems, including Anqing magistrate in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty and He En, a magistrate of a county in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty.

But among the elders, there are also couplets written by county magistrate teachers:

"Crying in the bamboo, lying in the ice, walking around the tomb, three filial piety is an ordinary filial piety.

The mountain has a platform, the dike has a pool, and there are piers in the pool, which will last for a long time. "

There are poems written by county magistrate Hu Yuanfen:

"As far as King Jiang is concerned, how can it be like a long time? A line is often an official, and three filial piety is ashamed of looking at the temple.

Thunder is in the north and near the carp pond in the east. Dragons are different now, and the construction of Taiwan Province is thought-provoking. "

According to legend, the main hall of San Xiao Temple was built before and after, with wings on both sides, a suite between the back wall and the outer wall of the main hall, a kitchen in the northeast corner, and a small hill outside the back door. There is a small cluster of water bamboo above the hill, which symbolizes Meng Zong's hanging bamboo. A bamboo pavilion was built at that time. For thousands of years, pavilions have disappeared due to the loss of years. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, ancestral halls were renovated many times and partially rebuilt. War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the county fell, the Japanese had set up a police station in San Xiao Temple. After liberation, the county supply and marketing cooperative set up a salesroom here, which was later demolished due to urban construction. Although the past scenery of Sanxiao Temple has disappeared, as three of the 24 filial piety in ancient China, Zhongyuan Fangu, Wang Xiang Wobing and Mengzong Crying Bamboo are widely celebrated in Wangjiang, and at the same time they have become eternal stories.

Editor's note: Yi, sound; Qi, speak up. Wandering refers to people who are far away from home and miss their parents. In the Book of Songs: "I look forward to my father, and I look forward to my mother." Acoustic extension refers to the shell of bamboo shoots. Dragon is the grandson of dragon. Refers to another name for bamboo shoots.
