Mainly popular in the northern provinces and cities of China, and also in some areas of the Yangtze River Basin and the Pearl River Basin.
There are dozens of tunes such as Jingyun Drum, Xihe Drum, Meihua Drum, Laoting Drum, JD.COM Drum, Northeast Drum, Shandong Drum, Jiaodong Drum, Anhui Drum, Shangdang Drum, Hubei Drum and Guangxi Drum.
All kinds of drums are mostly played by one person, accompanied by plucked instruments such as Sanxian, Pipa and Qin Yue, and some only use drums and boards. Most of them take the form of standing and singing, and the lyrics are basically seven sentences and cross sentences.
Most of the early songs were medium-long tunes, talking and singing. Later, they mainly focused on short stories, only singing and not talking.
Traditional songs are often linked with each other and have a wide range of themes, mostly historical war stories and love stories between men and women.
Due to different popular areas, accompaniment instruments and vocals are also different.
