The Historical Origin of Go Gong and Drum
Weiqi gongs and drums are traditional reserved programs in Weiqi Village, Erqu Town, zhouzhi county. They have a long history, commonly known as "majestic gongs and drums" and "knocking gongs and stabbing Qin" in ancient times. There are two different versions of the legend of "beating drums and stabbing Qin". One version comes from the allusion of "Jing Ke stabbed Qin", which is said to be a drum music arranged in memory of Jing Ke, a hero who braved hardships and dared to fight hard. There is also a saying that during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, vassal states fought against each other, and whenever the king of Qin sent troops, they beat drums to cheer and boost morale, thus defeating the heroes and unifying the Central Plains.

According to the older generation of Weiqi Village, Weiqi Village was originally named Bianqiang, and villagers moved here from Wugong County, Xianyang City in the early years. The village was divided into north and south ends, and related public temples were built. Every temple fair, we should make a fire, beat gongs and drums, and drum music is a martial arts style. There were only a dozen people in the gongs and drums team at that time. In the early 1940s, villagers Shi Nongfa and Chen Zifa further studied and arranged the gongs and drums in their village. During the Cultural Revolution, gongs and drums stopped for a while. In the early 1980s, former village committee director Gao reorganized the gongs and drums team. Under the attention and leadership of Su Wen, the secretary of the village branch and the village head, the Weiqi gongs and drums team has been growing, and the lineup has grown from the initial 20 or 30 people to more than 200 people today. The performance skills are improving day by day, and the costumes and musical instruments are constantly updated, which has become the masterpiece of Zhouzhi gongs and drums.
