Danyang was an important residence of the northern Han people after they moved south in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. For most Zuoshi families in China, Danyang, like Gu Jiyang, is the ancestral home of Zuoshi family. Zuo's ancestors were buried in Danyang Erling, so he called himself "Zuo's family in Danyang Erling".
Later, the descendants of Zuo Si gradually migrated to various places, such as Yongxin and Poyang in Jiangxi today, because they fled the war, went out to make a living or served as officials in other places. Ningxiang, Wugang and Changfeng in Hunan; Hefei and Lujiang, Anhui; Sichuan Changshou, Renshou and Wanxian; Xinyang, Henan and other places have Zuo descendants who moved out of Danyang Second Mausoleum. Their ancestors have worked hard on this land for generations, and their roots are on the banks of Zuodu River. At present, Danyang has been mentioned in the genealogy found, and what is more worth exploring is the ancestral grave of Zuo Si buried in the south of Jinsha Jingtang in Danyang and the ancestral grave buried in Danyang Erling. Although these two ancestral graves have now been leveled, according to the textual research of local cultural circles and the records of family genealogy, their positions have been basically determined. This discovery is of great significance to the study of Zuo Si's life and the culture of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and is also of great commemorative significance to the Zuo family.
Danyang Erling is an important birthplace of Zuo clan people. Unfortunately, the old ancestral temple was destroyed during the Japanese invasion of China, and more than 20 copies of the old genealogy were burned during the Cultural Revolution.
