Official announcement: Mercedes-Benz announced its shareholding in Funeng Technology, with a shareholding ratio of 3%
On the morning of July 3rd, Mercedes-Benz announced that it had deepened its strategic cooperation with Funeng Technology (Ganzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Funeng Technology), a power battery cell manufacturer in China, and took a stake in Funeng Technology with a shareholding ratio of 3%. To this end, Daimler Greater China Investment Co., Ltd. will invest tens of millions of euros to participate in the initial public offering of Funeng Technology, and this shareholding ratio has yet to be approved by the regulatory authorities.

Mercedes-Benz said that this cooperation will be another important milestone for Mercedes-Benz to achieve its "Vision 2039" carbon neutrality goal. The key contents of the agreement include the development and industrialization of high-tech battery technology and the improvement of cost competitiveness. The technical key points include improving the energy density and shortening the charging time to greatly improve the driving range.

At the same time, this agreement will ensure the supply of power battery cells in the process of Mercedes-Benz's electrification strategy, and Funeng Technology can ensure its planned capacity construction. In order to meet the increasing demand of Mercedes-Benz factories in Germany in the future, Funeng Technology will build a single power battery factory in Biterfeld-Wolfen in eastern Germany.

In this regard, Tang Shikai, a member of the board of directors of Daimler AG, who is in charge of the business in Greater China, said: "By taking a stake in China power battery single cell manufacturer for the first time, we will further tap the cooperation potential with China's high-tech partners to support our global electrification strategy. In the future, we will further strengthen local R&D, production and procurement in China. "
