Shaoshan 4 series freight locomotive is mainly developed to meet heavy-haul freight, and its performance is better than Dongfeng 4B freight locomotive. Shaoshan 5 passenger electric locomotive is a key scientific and technological project in the Seventh Five-Year Plan. During the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" period, China adopted the principle of combining technology and trade, and introduced foreign advanced technology while purchasing 8K locomotives of European 50Hz Group. On the basis of digestion and absorption, combined with the experience of design, manufacture and application of electric locomotives in China, Shaoshan 5 electric locomotive is designed. Shaoshan 7C electric locomotive is a 6-axle passenger electric locomotive, with AC DC drive of 4800kW and the highest running speed of1.20km/h. Its running condition is similar to that of Dongfeng 4D passenger locomotive, that is, "Huahu", which is stronger than Huahu, but its running speed may be slower. Because there are many bends in the southwest railway, the train doesn't need to run very fast. But it is usually overloaded, so it needs high power.
