Linyi County, formerly known as Fuyang, is a county under the jurisdiction of Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. Linyi County, formed by the merger of Linjin County and Yi Shi County, is located in Yuncheng Basin in the southwest of Shanxi Province, with the Yellow River in the west, Taiyue Mountain in the east, Emei Mountain in the north and Zhongtiao Mountain in the south. It is the only Pingchuan county in Shanxi Province.

Linyi County is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, along the northern edge of Yuncheng Basin, bordering Yuncheng City in the southeast, yongji city in the southwest, Heyang County in Shaanxi Province in the west, and Wanrong County and Gongxiu in Gu Feng in the north. The jurisdiction is 55 kilometers wide from east to west and 33 kilometers long from north to south, with a total land area of 1339.32 square kilometers. Linyi culture has a long history, including ancient Yangshao culture, Longshan culture and Yin Shang culture. Precious cultural relics such as the Spring and Autumn Ruins and the Han and Wei stone inscriptions still exist. Linyi county was named as an advanced cultural work area in China on 199 1, and in 2009 it was named as "a strong cultural county in Shanxi Province".
