Russian businessman Alex Snyder founded the Midland Group. A year ago, he bought the Jordan team and finished the 2005 season with the Jordan EJ 15/B car. This season, Midland was registered as MF 1 team through the Russian Automobile Sports Association, and the first Russian team in the history of F 1 was born.

But in 2006, Midland sold the team to the Dutch automaker Spyker. Less than two seasons later, supercar manufacturers were overwhelmed. So, in 2007, Spyker sold the team to Indian millionaire Vijay Mallya, Dutch entrepreneurs Jan and Michiel Mol, and established today's Indian Force F 1 Team. The first three letters in the name of the team's first new car VJM0 1 are the combination of the initials of three people.
