Should the 9-meter crane beam be a brake hanger?
Do it. The 9-meter-long crane beam shall be used as the brake hanger. When the span of the crane beam is less than 12m and it is located in the side column, the following forms can be adopted: the crane beam is designed as a simply supported beam, and the upper flange of the beam is a compression flange. 12m span is not small, and a large span is equivalent to a large calculation length, and more attention should be paid to instability. Therefore, if it exceeds 9m, it is advisable to set lateral braking structure to enhance the overall stability and lateral stiffness of crane beam (or crane truss) and resist the crane. On the one hand, the purpose of vertical bracing is to increase the stiffness and improve the overall torsional capacity (forming a "triangle"), on the other hand, it is to reduce the calculated length of channel steel. Generally, vertical supports are set at three or four points of the crane beam span, which is not suitable for crane beams with large vertical deflection (mid-span).
