Tin foil paper is a unique handicraft in Shaoxing in the early years. In ancient times, its main purpose was to make money to worship ghosts and gods. Now there are many other uses, such as sealing. The ancient tin foil paper was rectangular or square, as thin as a sheet, and could be folded and deformed.
The color of tin foil paper is silvery white, and the ashes are golden yellow after burning. Its main components are tin and aluminum, which is an alloy of tin and aluminum. Tin foil can also be used for barbecue. Wrapped in the outer layer of food, it cooks quickly, has a strong flavor and is not easy to cool. There is usually a layer of tin foil outside the roast leg of lamb in the restaurant.
Operating conditions: According to records, Hangzhou aluminum foil ranks first, followed by Ningbo aluminum foil and Shaoxing aluminum foil. During the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, products were not only sold to coastal areas, but also exported to Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Hong Kong, Macao, Southeast Asia and the United States. Since the reform, our county has exported labor services, and many migrant workers in Shaoxing are engaged in aluminum foil production.
In recent years, craftsmen in our county have gradually returned to their hometowns to open workshops and recruit apprentices, gradually forming a one-stop process of production, supply and marketing. The production quality can be comparable to Shaoxing tin foil.
