On the morning of February 2nd, the opening ceremony of Shantou Bay Tunnel and the structural capping ceremony of Chaoshan Historical and Cultural Expo Center were held in CITIC Binhai New City and the south bank of the Bay Tunnel, which was also a landmark project for the construction of China (Shantou) Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Experimental Zone.

After the tunnel is completed and opened to traffic, it will rapidly expand and upgrade the main urban area of Shantou, providing new development space for the urban development of Shantou.

Chaoshan Historical and Cultural Expo Center is the core building of the landmark landscape axis of CITIC Binhai New City and the first large-scale public construction project of CITIC Binhai New City. Designed by Professor He Jingtang, an academician of China Academy of Engineering and a famous architect, it has a total construction area of over 50,000 square meters.
After the project is completed, the center will play the functions of collection, exhibition, research, communication, education, leisure and cultural services, which will greatly enhance Shantou's sense of identity and cohesion as the capital of hipsters.

Wang Jiong, vice chairman and general manager of CITIC Group, said in his speech that Shantou is a central city in eastern Guangdong, an important part of the Haixi Economic Zone and an important gateway to the Maritime Silk Road. The establishment of a pilot zone for overseas Chinese economic and cultural cooperation in Shantou will add a lot of color to Shantou's future development.
