A brief history of the development of national orchestral music
1920s In Shanghai, Zheng Jinwen and others set up Datong Music Club, devoted themselves to the transformation and innovation of traditional musical instruments, and formed a band, which was divided into four groups: blowing, beating, pulling and playing. However, the orchestra was small at that time, with only about 30 people. Datong Music Club has also adapted many ensemble works suitable for this new type of band according to the traditional music of China, the most famous of which is "Moonlit Night on the Spring River" adapted from the pipa Xunyang with Liu.

Later, in 1935, China People's Broadcasting Orchestra, the earliest official national orchestra in China, was established in Nanjing, and later moved to Chongqing during the Anti-Japanese War. However, efforts have been made to improve the composition of the orchestra and reform musical instruments, including strengthening intonation, increasing the range and reforming the low, middle and low huqin. After 1949, Zhongguang National Orchestra moved to Taiwan Province Province, and then Taiwan Province Provincial University 1952 and Normal University 1953 also established the National Music Society.

The earliest large-scale national orchestra in Chinese mainland-Shanghai National Orchestra was founded in 1952. Subsequently, the China National Broadcasting Orchestra was established in Beijing on 1953. Thanks to the efforts of Peng Xiuwen and others, the orchestra has made great achievements in the aspects of voice preparation, music creation and musical instrument improvement. Therefore, the compilation method of the Zhongguang National Orchestra basically became the later orchestras in three places across the Taiwan Strait and overseas.
