In Muli, there is a branch of Tibetan "Xu Mi" people, who are slightly different from other local Tibetans in language, clothing and religious beliefs. Their unique marriage custom of polyandry or polygamy is still quite complete.
Second, the custom of walking marriage system
In Wujiao Township, Muli, the social form of matriarchal clan is still preserved, with women in charge and only matriarchal sisters, brothers and children as family members. My father is a member of another family. He can only go in at night and leave in the morning. This is the family pattern formed by the traditional "walking marriage system".
Third, Lantern Festival.
Tibetan people in Muli light lamps and chant Buddhist scriptures every year on the Lantern Festival on the 25th of the Tibetan calendar 10, in memory of Master Zong Kaba, the second Buddha, who is a wise and versatile man in the snowy area.
Fourth, buza dance.
Tibetans in Muli can dance buzha. The upper body of Buzha dance has gesture changes such as deer head, downward finger, lion head, double flying swallow, double waving and double pushing hands. Actions include jumping forward, leaping, hi-spin, cross-legged rotation, bow archery, and leg lifting (feet hooked out).
Verb (abbreviation of verb) Yi people's dressing ceremony
When the Yi girls in Muli enter adulthood, it is customary to hold a grand dressing ceremony, that is, "changing skirts, combing double braids and pulling strings", indicating that the girls have grown up. Before "Shalaro", Yi girls wore red and white children's skirts with braids and pierced ears.
Sixth, the Yi Torch Festival.
Torch Festival is also a traditional festival of the Yi people in Muli, usually on June 24th or 25th in the summer calendar. On the Torch Festival, the Yi people, men, women and children, should wear festive costumes, play with livestock, offer spiritual cards, dance, sing, race horses and wrestle. In the evening, we walked around the house and fields with torches, and then got together to light a bonfire and dance.
