The Historical Story of Baishui Temple in Zaoyang
When was the temple of Baishui Temple built? Because of its age, it is impossible to verify it. According to the Book of the Later Han Dynasty? According to Emperor Guangwu Ji, as early as the third year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty, that is, in AD 27, he proclaimed himself emperor, and soon called people to build the four-parent high temple bought by his father Liu Qin, his grandfather Liu Hui, his great-grandfather Liu Wai and his great-grandfather Liu. After 33 years in power, Liu Xiu traveled thousands of miles from the capital to his hometown mausoleum to worship his ancestors. After his death, his descendants and emperor Zhang successively built a temple on the basis of the four ancestors' high temple, also known as the temple. According to the old Zaoyang county records, after thousands of years of changes, its temples and shrines have been ruined. Until the Yongzheng period of the Yuan Dynasty, Yuan Di ordered that "the world is famous for its mountains and rivers, and a special ceremony will be held in Wang Ming, Sheng Di". Therefore, the villagers in Liu Xiu's hometown, out of gratitude for the merits of the sages, on March 3, under the planning of the old people in the village, convened a fundraising at the original site and built a new Liu Xiu Temple. Wang Tailai, then the magistrate of Zaoyang County, wrote an inscription for Liuxiu Temple. During the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty, Buddhism was valued by the imperial court. At this time, a Buddhist master named Zhenlong came to Liuxiu Temple. Under his auspices, the temple hall was rearranged and greatly adjusted. The Daxiong Hall on the east side of Liu Xiu was changed to worship the Buddha statue, the temple on the west side of the original Buddha statue was changed to worship Liu Xiu, and the original Liu Xiu Temple was changed to Baishui Temple.
